“I do not tolerate lies, love,”
Killian’s dark gaze pinned me to my seat and it was clear nothing would satisfy him but the truth. He has a way of looking at me, putting me on edge and yet making me feel safe, pressing me to reveal more than I want to. His eyes wander on my face, searching again as if he will read my mind.
A moment passed and neither of us uttered anything and then, he finally spoke as if he found what he was looking for.
“There is a strategic reason for this,” he said, his head tilted, looking deep into my eyes and his expression turned thoughtful.
“This is not a whim, you don’t do things on a whim,” he whispered the last part more to himself and his gaze became clear. The probing stare that was intimidating me was now turning soft.
“What is it?” he asked, not freeing me from the hold of his gaze and I blinked.
There are many things in this world that are still a mystery to me. I have been writing since I was 15, on and off. I try to sustain myself financially while doing what I love, but to strive financially, I often lose the drive to write the stories I enjoy and love.
