And my luck, I did try to dodge, and in the end, it jumped right where my arm and shoulder met. The pain made my head buzz and my vision blurred a little. The warm crimson liquid soaked through my blouse, and I shook my head. As my vision cleared, I swallowed my whimper and kneed her in the stomach. She staggered back, pulling out the knife. I gasped and my knees buckled, but I grabbed the knife from the ground and picked it up with my left hand, unable to move from the pain. I felt the cold sweat on my neck. I heard a rush, my vision clearing for a moment. She lunged, and without much thought, I jammed it.
It all stopped for a moment when I looked up, and she once again staggered back, this time stumbling to the wall. Her dark, shocked eyes met mine, and I followed her gaze to where her hand was pressed. The knife was stabbed into her side.
There are many things in this world that are still a mystery to me. I have been writing since I was 15, on and off. I try to sustain myself financially while doing what I love, but to strive financially, I often lose the drive to write the stories I enjoy and love.
